The British Council in Kazakhstan is pleased to announce an open call for senior management of Kazakhstani universities to take part in two-day training course designed specifically to equip university leaders with skills and knowledge vital for overcoming the challenges of managing modern universities.
If you answer “yes” to any of the following statements, we would encourage you to scroll down and submit your application:
- “I hold a senior position at my university and am actively engaged in reaching internationalization goals”
- “I am responsible for putting together a strategy for my university and monitoring progress”
- “I want to learn about international experience of internationalization, and how other universities approach this challenge”
- “I want to connect with other universities in Kazakhstan, as well as find partners abroad, to share experience and learn from best practice”
What will the training be about?
The training will be designed to fit the needs of participants. The initial goal of the training is to provide participants with skills essential for university policy makers and higher education managers in modern universities, with a focus on the specific challenges faced by the higher education sector in Kazakhstan, notably the need to internationalise and develop autonomy. After shortlisting, selected applicants will complete a needs assessment questionnaire, and final training will be tailored to the needs that they identify.
We hope that participants of the workshop will be inspired to stay in touch after completing the training and form a kind of “alumni” group, implementing what they have learned in their own institutions and cascading new skills to their colleagues.
The workshop will take place in early March in Almaty. We are expecting to select up to 20 participants, hoping for diversity of university representatives from all over Kazakhstan.
If your application was successful, you will be invited to the Management Training in Almaty and contacted by the British Council to complete the needs assessment questionnaire.
The training will be in English, with simultaneous translation to Russian.
