WeAlmaty is designed and run by a coalition made up of the British Council, the Kazakh-British Technical University, Almaty Akimat and the Almaty Development Centre, and funded by a grant from the European Union.

British Council

The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. We create friendly knowledge and understanding between the people of the UK and other countries. We do this by making a positive contribution to the UK and the countries we work with – changing lives by creating opportunities, building connections and engendering trust. 

Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU)

KBTU considers its mission to provide high-quality education for future leaders in business and industry, to promote innovative technologies and research in the most advanced and perspective areas of science for the benefit of the region and the country as a whole.

Almaty Development Centre

Almaty Development Centre is a joint stock company wholly owned by the Almaty City Akimat. Established in 2008, its mission is to assist the Municipal Authorities in promoting the strategic development of the social, economic and cultural infrastructure of Almaty city.
